Why should I care?

Skiers, snowboarders and snowplayers all need snow. Right now, we've got it. But a worldwide warming trend is underway - a kind we've never faced before - and this is not good news for us.

Human activities have lead to an increase in greenhouse gases, which in turn is leading to an increase in average temperatures across many parts of the world. Scientists believe that rising temperatures will affect the world's climate and environment in different ways and may affect our unique alpine environment significantly.

CSIRO research indicates that, if global warming continues unchecked, snow seasons may decrease in length and peak snow depths may reduce. And resorts and lift companies will have to increase their investment in snow-making.

And winter is short enough already!

The good news is that each of us can make a difference.
